Immortality is really not in preserving the body, coz the body will fade away. It is about preserving your thoughts, keeping them alive. After all, what are you? It’s your thoughts, your actions, which makes you what you are. Your physical attributes do count a little but you have to agree that its contribution is trifle.
Imagine a bio disk in which you could just download your whole brain and then upload the same into another body! Just upload it to a younger yet matured body and continue to do so to gain true immortality. It is kind of a setting for an evil movie in which your thoughts will enter the host’s body like a parasite and gain control of it. But that’s when this technology will be in it is nascent stage.
The deeper I think of it, if this design has to succeed then one needs to pick the “right” type of host so that the body can work according to the brain.
And since we are already going at a light speed on this present science fiction, the phase 2 of this technology will be when we will have manufacturing plants which will make human bodies. You can go to one of their showrooms, pick up the “look” you want and then upon your decision transfer into that body and…there you go! Kaboom! A new you, a new life!
Well what about the exploding population, decreasing resources? Huh! Well if I am looking into a future which can support this model, I am pretty sure we would have found another planet, which sustains life. I am optimistic that we will find MORE than one planet which supports life. In fact the resources will be so much in abundance that the normal 60-70 yrs of life span will be considered too short.
This will be the most thriving business in that era, just like we have automobile industry today. The phase 3 of this model will be when we will start creating exactly the same looking human bodies as they looked years back. So, you do not risk being “not liked” by people because you look little different from what you used to. Well, today we know that we CAN create the exact bodies through cloning. So, we have pretty much started this journey!
The downside to this is that you may become completely insane because your mind may not be able to process information for so many years. Finally you will be put to sleep. So what I am saying is that even this product has an expiry date but YOU control that expiry date. Or maybe I am not thinking hard, maybe we can replenish our brains, so that it can process more information…maybe we truly dawn the Bio-Man, the rule of the bio machines!
I am excited; can I get someone to sponsor this project?
